Dr. Ellefsen has thirty-five years of experience in sports medicine and orthopedics as a surgeon. He’s a Wisconsin native and a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia. Dr. Ellefsen obtained his medical degree at Kansas City University School of Medicine and Biosciences, where he studied Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery. He completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Deaconess Health Systems in St. Louis and the University of Southern Florida in Tampa, Florida. There he worked as the team physician for several college and high school teams, including Missouri Valley College and State Fair Community College. Ellefsen feels at home in small-town America, cares deeply about keeping rural hospitals open, and is excited to be part of the ZivaMedical family. He resides in Mexico, Missouri, with his wife, Jamie, and enjoys spending time with his seven children, two grandchildren, and two dogs. In his spare time, he goes fishing, rides motorcycles, and attends as many sports games as possible.
